Who Should Create the Community?
If you are someone in medical crisis, it is often difficult to ask for help even once—let alone again and again. If you are a family caregiver, chances are you are overwhelmed by well-meaning offers of help from your friends, family members and colleagues. If you are a close family member or friend watching someone you care about juggle day-to-day life while in crisis, you may feel helpless.
But there is something you can do.
Anyone can create a community at Lotsa Helping Hands. It takes no special training or software to get started. When you start the community, you become the Lead Coordinator.
The Lead Coordinator could be the primary caregiver, or a friend who wants to help. It can even be someone living some distance away. It does not have to be someone who is skilled beyond the basics in email and online shopping, for instance.
As Lead Coordinator, you work together with the family or people you are assisting, using our intuitive templates. Simply create the activities that require help – whether these are delivering dinners on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday nights for the next six weeks, or taking someone to a medical appointment.
Then, you tap into those who have offered help to join the community you have created. These community members viewing the calendar of needs can easily sign up for what works for them. You don’t have to send reminders or replies—the system automatically sends email confirmations to the member and designated family members. It also sends email reminders one month, one week, and one day in advance to ensure that no one misses a commitment.
